Patrick & Mireille Meyer
Nature 2019

When Patrick took over the family’s estate at a young age, he brought in the conventional methods of farming he had learned at school, eschewing the techniques used by his parent’s generation as out of touch, antiquated practices. With time he’d see his crop spiral negatively, with the vines producing less fruit and producing wines of markedly less depth and character. In realising the consequence of chemical farming, Patrick reverted back to the methods of past generations and saw his vines slowly return to their humming, biodiverse ecosystems, producing healthy fruit and wines of sustained quality. Now farming fully biodynamically, Patrick and his wife Mireille are perhaps some of the last vestiges of winemakers who have really seen both sides of the coin. Together they produce wines of terroir, ranging from the simple and everyday to the immense and cellar worthy.
