Domaine Des Ardoisieres
Schiste 2019

Winemaker Brice Omont farms this most vertiginous slope of the 6ha of land in Cévins specifically for Améthyste. Borne of a southeasternly exposure (mimicking that of Côte Rotie) and a microclimate due in part to the quick-warming mica-schists found throughout the vineyard, Améthyste is Omont's top cuvée, and one we're particularly excited to (very occasionally) stock. Broad and brawny, delicate and perfumed, paradoxical, profound, immense wine. 2019 saw a warmer summer, so fruit here is perhaps a bit more immediate and generous than in years past.
