Daniele Piccinin
Monte Scarvi, 2019

Grower: Daniele Piccinin
Region: Veneto, Italy
Grape Varieties: Durella, Garganega
Viticulture: Organic
Size: 75cl bottle

Farming just 5ha of vines in the northeast of the Veneto, Daniele champions minimum interventionalist farming, favouring homeopathic treatments and lots of patience in his vineyards over chemical sprays. He's also made a mission out of revitalising plantings of durella, a local grape indigenous to his little corner of the region. The wines offer a real singularity of place, at once open and expressive but with a real freshness, perhaps carried down from the more mountainous reaches of the Veneto. Monte Scarvi has a real gentleness to its texture and weight, with just enough acidity to carry flavours of dried herbs and ripe orchard fruit through the palate.
