Jean-François ("Jeff," as he's known to most) began farming his 20ha in the remote Languedoc village of Puimisson organically back in 1987, when only a handful of producers in the area were doing so. His commitment to proper farming and biodiversity has lead him to tear up about 7ha of vines in place of fig, olive, and almond trees, which provide wonderful shelter for the vines and benefit the wide array of ecosystems present on his farm. Jeff is an outspoken proponent of reintroducing indigenous varietals to the region, and in turn has set up a wonderful nursery where he propagates old varietals like castets, servant, picardin, and several odd relatives of muscat. The soils are healthy, rarely plowed, and oxygen-rich; the fruit health lends itself to be able to in turn produce wines without any additions, unfined and unfilitered.

On Peut Pas Vraiment Dire Que is syrah from one of Jeff's younger plots. A lovely example of his wines, with a blue and black fruit character and loads of vibrant energy.
