Valli Unite, Alessandrino 2020. Sure, it’s thoroughly left of center, off kilter and a bit questionable for some. But this is a gateway wine for many exploring the wide spectrum of what we’re calling ‘natural’ wine. Made without the addition of sulphur at any stage, biodynamic farming, co-operative lead ethics, it’s practically the poster boy for affordable Italian natural wine and ticks many a box. A touch of residual c02 other wise known in the biz as ‘spritz’, brings lift and energy. With and unmistakable heady aroma of farm animal backed by a meaty pallet behind bags of easy dark red fruit. Love or hate it’s here to stay
