Joan Ramon Escoda and Carmen Sanahuja work ten hectares of land in the iconic Conca de Barbera region of Spain, employing a polyculture of olives, almonds, vegetables, and livestock alongside their 4.5 hectares of vines. They're people who have a long history of great farming, organic since the start (in 1997) and using biodynamic methods since 2003. In 2007 they made the move to zero-sulfur winemaking and haven't looked back since. The wines are incredible reflections of the life and energy of the vineyards, each unique in its expression of place. One of the more precise wines from Escoda-Sanahuja that we've seen as of late, it's lean, saline acidity brings focus to an otherwise broad and textural palate. The influence of the region's limestone soils shows here, giving a real seriousness to the lift and energy of the wine.
