Liam Kelleher, who has established himself as a budding winemaker back home in New Zealand’s Waipara Valley in Canterbury, is also well-known to many for his work and achievements in the London hospitality world. Almost ten years ago in 2012, he opened Noble Fine Liquor on Broadway Market and in the years that followed he was to open and be a partner in 3 additional east London Venues: Lower Clapton’s wildly successful wine bar - P x Franco; the community favourite - Bright restaurant, just around the corner from Noble; and last but not least - PEG, the bustling resto-bar on Morning Lane.
2019 saw the first release of wines made in NZ under his own label, LELE. Made from grapes from a few different sites in the Waipara from vines of up to 30 years of age, Liam hand harvests, and uses a range of techniques not always employed with white grape varietals including crushing the grapes by foot, skin maceration, carbonic maceration and extended lees contact. With minimal sulphites added at bottling the resulting wines are aromatic, fresh and unique in expression.
They are wines that leave us very, very excited to see what Liam does next, and we are very happy to be able to offer these to you here in the UK.
