La Stoppa

Emilia-Romagna, Italy

Owner Elena Pantaleoni and head winemaker Giulio Armani live and work together on their remarkable farm in Emilia Romagna. It’s here that they tend to 50 hectares of land, of which 32 are planted under vine. The pair took over from a wealthy lawyer who originally owned the estate, and since they’ve taken up the helm, the land has been converted to organics, international varieties eschewed in favour of local and indigenous, and a real sense of biodiversity has been restored.

The wines of La Stoppa sing of their home, always vibrant and terroir-driven, and the pair’s good sense to hold a few of their cuvees back does wonders in developing the truest sense of the varietals and terroir at play.
