Domaine de la Pepiere
Pays Nantais, Loire, France
Marc Ollivier took over the now 28 hectare estate in 1984, beginning with only 7 and building and planting this highly successful keystone domaine until his retirement, and last vintage in 2019. The estate is now in the capable hands of two locals Rémi Branger and Gwénaëlle Croix. Marc can be found enjoying retirement in Brittany. There are many rarities attached to this domaine in terms of production. In contrast to most other vignerons in the area harvest is done by hand, spontaneous fermentation is allowed to occur and extended lees ageing employed . For what is a robust and commercially driven area in the wine world these are honest, solid, good clean wines to come back to time and time again. A classic.
