Based in Avize, Pascal Agrapart seems an important figure in his community. Farming his 12 hectares of vines totally naturally (never using herbicides, pesticides, and Bordeaux mixture only when necessary), he’s a figurehead for grower winemakers of the Marne alongside Anseleme Selosse. He’s quoted as saying that he sees making wine as a pyramid, with the long-term health of the vines at the very foundation; it’s reflected in the wines- the deep roots of his vines draw immense minerality, life, structure, and clarity into the fruit. In the cellar Pascal allows for spontaneous fermentation and the wines are never fined, filtered, and always show a beautiful depth of terroir character.
